Response from City of Joburg: CoJ and City Power denounce Eskom’s threat to disrupt electricity supply

Eskom plans to cut power to Johannesburg “at certain predetermined times of day”. This is after the utility, City Power and the City of Johannesburg (CoJ) could not agree on the municipality’s R4.9-billion debt.

Please see below City Power’s planned outages for the CBD and surrounds.
16 February 2023 – Noordwyk Sub Station
17 February 2023 – Mayfair Sub Station
19 February 2023 – Selby North and East Bay Sub Station
Please note that Braamfontein is part of the Mayfair Sub Station and the City of Joburg offices will be affected and may be closed tomorrow.
I have confirmed with City Power that the Johannesburg CBD will not be affected as they fall under Bree Sub Station, which has no planned outages.
